GummySearch alternative
GummySearch is gone. Here is the desktop replacement.
Reddit Toolbox runs on your Windows machine: watch subreddits for new posts matching your keywords, sort and filter the results, then export to CSV or Markdown. No account, no monthly fee, and your collected data never leaves the PC.

Data lives
On your PC
The one thing we do not replace
GummySearch was hosted, so it monitored Reddit while you were asleep. This app runs on your machine, so alerts only fire while the window is open. If unattended 24/7 monitoring is the whole reason you used GummySearch, a hosted tool is still the right answer and we would rather tell you that now.
What changed
Why a desktop app instead of another subscription
The last three Reddit research tools people relied on were all cloud services that eventually closed. That is the failure mode this design avoids.
Desktop instead of a hosted dashboard
Rules, collected posts and exports live on your machine. There is no account to keep paying for, and nothing to lose when a vendor shuts down.
One-time purchase instead of a subscription
A licence unlocks the full workflow permanently. No monthly fee, no seat count, no plan tier to be moved out of.
Built for reading lists, not social browsing
A subreddit becomes eight columns you can sort and filter. The permalink sits on every row, so opening the real thread is one click.

Migration
Where your old workflow maps to
Nothing imports automatically, but the pieces line up one to one.
One rule = one subreddit plus optional keywords. Keywords use AND, so `cold, email` only fires when both appear.
New matches collect in the Alerts tab with an unread count. This is the honest difference: we do not run while your PC is off.
Score floor, comment floor, date window and required keywords. Filtered results are what gets exported.
CSV keeps the familiar shape. Markdown keeps the full post body and reads well in Obsidian or Notion.
What you get
The parts that matter day to day
Filter before you read
Minimum score, comment floor, date window, required keywords. The list shrinks to posts that actually match.
Export that survives
CSV for spreadsheets, Markdown for notes. Markdown keeps the full post body, not a truncated preview.
Works offline after activation
The licence is a signed token verified locally, valid for 7 days without a network call.
Free version to judge it
20 collection runs a day, two subreddits and 100 posts per run. Enough to decide without talking to sales.
Questions
Before you switch
Is this a drop-in replacement for GummySearch?+
No, and the main gap is intentional to mention up front: GummySearch was a hosted service, so it kept collecting while you were offline. Reddit Toolbox is a desktop app, so alerts only run while the app is open. What you get in exchange is no subscription, no account, and your data staying on your machine.
Can I import my GummySearch data?+
No. GummySearch's export files use their own schema, and we do not parse them. What people usually do is re-create their most important saved searches as alert rules, which takes a few minutes per rule. The subreddits and keywords are the same, so the re-creation is mechanical.
Do I need a Reddit account or API key?+
Neither is required to start. Without a Reddit cookie the app reads the public RSS feed, which gives titles, full post text, authors and links (about 25 posts per check). Adding a cookie, copied from your browser once per day, adds scores, comment counts and paging.
Is there a Mac version?+
Not yet. The current release is a Windows executable. On Mac the closest option is browsing with an ad blocker plus a spreadsheet, which is exactly the workflow this tool replaces.
What happens if you shut down?+
Nothing stops working. The app runs locally, the licence is verified offline with a signed token, and your exports are plain CSV and Markdown files. There is no server dependency to break.
